CThis is the first time I have come to Brussels. I really liked it. Yesterday we visited the Royal Museums of Fine Arts. Yes, I had read articles about insecurity, but I find that the streets are clean and not dangerous. Why Belgium? For the moment, I don’t live far away, in Cologne,” says Bai, a 38-year-old Chinese mother, accompanied by Yang, her 10-year-old son. “We just arrived this morning, but for me, Brussels has changed for the worse since my last visit. The Gare du Midi is unsafe and dirty,” says Carlos, a 31-year-old Spanish tourist. “The city center seems OK, but we’ll have to see when it’s dark,” adds Mario, his 28-year-old traveling companion. “We are in for the week and we came for the day. From what we have seen so far, Brussels is extraordinary,” exclaim Karal and Mary, two Canadians aged 45 and 50.
