LYears pass, but the images repeat themselves. Brussels mayor Philippe Close (PS) still surveys the territory of his municipality every day. On social networks, photos and videos sometimes show him on the same day shaking hands at a neighborhood flea market, sharing a spaghetti meal in a rest home, then wiggling his hips at a dance party. And not just during the election campaign. Mayor since 2017, the socialist today embodies the City of Brussels, or at the very least is strictly linked to it in the collective imagination. At the head of a town of 200,000 inhabitants whose budget of one billion euros represents a sixth of regional revenues, the vice-president of the PS is one of the most prominent, the most powerful, the most talented representatives without also doubts the regional political scene.
