Coppa Bernocchi: Evenepoel recaptured after a breakaway 80 km from the finish

Belgian rider Stan Van Tricht (Alpecin-Deceuninck) won the Coppa Bernocchi (174 km) on Monday at the head of a breakaway, which took place in Lombardy around Legnano. At the end of a close race, the 25-year-old rider scored his first professional victory after sprinting past his breakaway companions, including the Frenchman Axel Baudin (Décathlon – AG2R La Mondiale) and the American Nelson Powless (EF Education – Easy Post).

It was the Belgian Olympic champion, Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick Step) who launched the first attack 80 kilometers from the finish before being caught, then Bart Lemmen (Visma Lease a bike) remained alone in the lead for thirty kilometers before being taken back under the red flame by the group of the winner of the day.
