“Change begins at the local level…”, El Malick Ndiaye

Yesterday, Saturday October 5, the Minister of Infrastructure, Land and Air Transport chaired the human investment day (Sétal Sunu Réew), dedicated to the promotion of cleanliness and sanitation on a national scale.

« The Maguette Ndiaye school, which will welcome students on Monday for the start of classes, served as a setting for the cleaning teams“, underlines the press release received in Senego. The same school the minister had attended as a student. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he visited his CI classroom and expressed all his “emotion“et sa”joie” as you walk through its doors. He also took the opportunity to pay tribute to his former teacher, Abdoulaye Guissé, who accompanied him in his first educational steps, while saluting all the country’s teachers for “remarkable work” that they accomplish on a daily basis in the service of national education.

He then underlined the importance of citizen participation, recalling that change begins at the local level. Before encouraging communities to take initiatives to improve their living environment and protect the environment. The minister insisted on the need “to stimulate a patriotic and civic surge”, saying that this is how a country can be developed. He also invited the population to draw inspiration from the leadership of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, by each planting a tree and ensuring its maintenance.

After this event, El Malick Ndiaye went to the Angle Islam college in Dahra, where he received a completely renovated computer room, equipped with computers and educational equipment, including a video projector. He stressed the importance to prepare young people for the future by familiarizing them with digital tools, essential for social and economic development« .

Still as part of his commitment to education, the Minister visited the Franco-Arab high school in Dahra, where he listened to the grievances expressed by the director of the establishment.

In addition, the Minister distributed flags of Senegal to the defense and security forces at the Education and Training Inspectorate (IEF), as well as to all public and private schools in the communes of Dahra and by Linguere. An initiative which, according to him, “ aims to allow the raising of the national colors in each school, like other establishments in the country. This act goes beyond the symbol. It is an essential patriotic gesture, because the school must prepare the child to become an engaged citizen« .

Finally, to end his visit, Mr. NDIAYE went to the commune of Mboula to attend the 14th edition of the 72 hours of Mbeyene, an event organized by an association working for local development.

During this meeting, after listening to the people’s grievances, particularly on the lack of road and health infrastructure, the Minister wanted to reassure them of the government’s commitment to improving their situation. He also encouraged other communes and villages to draw inspiration from the Mbeyene Movement for Progress model in order to contribute sustainably to the development of their locality and the country.
