Actress Naima Lamcharki dies aged 81

Naima Lamcharki, iconic actress of Moroccan cinema, television and theater, died on October 5 at the age of 81.

Born in Casablanca in 1943, Naima Lamcharki became known to the general public for her role in the film “Looking for my wife’s husband” by director Mohamed Abderrahman Tazi released in 1993, then in its sequel entitled « Lalla Hobbies » released three years later.

She notably contributed to education in the program “Alif Lam”, a program dedicated to the fight against illiteracy broadcast on Al Aoula in the early 2000s.

In 2021, Naima Lamcharki won the Best Actress award at the Malmö Arab Film Festival for her role in Apple tree autumndirected by Mohamed Mouftaki

The deceased was made an officer of the Order of National Merit in 2012 by King Mohammed VI, and was a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
