Rabat – The double questionnaire approach adopted for the collection of data from households as part of the General Population and Housing Census (RGPH) made it possible to reduce the cost of the census by 453 million dirhams (MDH), said, Thursday in Rabat, the High Commissioner for Planning (HCP), Ahmed Lahlimi Alami.

This new approach, which made it possible to provide data on all territorial units, neighborhoods and douars, and with the same precision as if a single long questionnaire had been adopted for the entire population, was appreciated by households, said Mr. Lahlimi during a press briefing on the occasion of the end of this operation.

The first questionnaire included questions related to demographic structures and rare phenomena such as international migration and mortality, while the second, detailed questionnaire included, in addition to the above, questions on new subjects including social protection, the use of information and communication technologies and the environment.

In addition, the High Commissioner for Planning returned to the overall budget allocated to the RGPH (1.46 billion dirhams) which was distributed over cartographic work and mapping of economic establishments with a share of 19.3%, expenses linked to human resources during the stages of training and data collection (54.7%), the acquisition of electronic tablets (10%), equipment and information systems (2%), the campaign of communication (1%) and various expenses (13%).

In this sense, he specified that the results of the cartographic work will be used over ten years and the tablets will be reused, during the next five years, by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, as part of the digital school project.

The data collection operation from households as part of the 7th RGPH ended last Monday at midnight. The data collected as part of this operation was centralized and secured in digital form at the Data Management Center set up by the HCP for this purpose, and their exploitation has already begun.
