Tuesday around 1:40 p.m., a traffic accident, which occurred on avenue de la gare in Moudon, was reported to the police. On site, the gendarmes noted that a car had hit another, stopped in front of a level crossing, and that witnesses were trying to resuscitate a man lying on the ground. It was the driver of one of the two vehicles. According to the first elements of the investigation, this man felt unwell. His car then hit a vehicle stopped in front of him at the level crossing, slightly injuring its driver.
The victim, an 80-year-old Swiss man living in the region, died at the scene of the accident. The public prosecutor was informed and the duty prosecutor opened a criminal investigation. He entrusted the investigations to specialists from the Gendarmerie.
This event required the intervention of two gendarmerie patrols, three patrols of specialists from the traffic unit, an ASP from the commune of Moudon, an ambulance from the CSU Nord Vaudois and a vehicle from the SMUR from Payerne.
