Taylor Swift wins seven MTV Video Music Awards

Represented by Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Sabrina Carpenter, female pop stars swept the board this Wednesday night in New York.

Following the success of the Eras Tour, Taylor Swift won the Video of the Year award for her song Fortnight, as well as the Fan Award, which she won for the third consecutive year at the MTV Video Music Awards, a ceremony that rewards the best video clips of the year. “I always try to find a way to say thank you to my fans, for making my life what it is” said seven-time award-winning Taylor Swift on stage Wednesday night.

Singer Katy Perry has been awarded the Video Vanguard Award, an award that recognizes artists who have had a strong impact on the music video industry, with her hit Roar. Eminem opened the ceremony with a recreation of his famous set from the 2000 MTV Awards. The famous rapper performed his song The Real Slim Shady accompanied by several dozen lookalikes.
