It is by forming a united front that Lausanne, Yverdon-les-Bains and Vevey have decided to alert the Vaud State Council to the “very worrying” situation surrounding the development, in the streets, of dealing and consumption. narcotics. For several months, this double phenomenon has taken on a whole new scale and has raised many concerns in these cities who believe that the facts are now “out of control”. In a joint press release, the three trustees asked for help from the cantonal government concerning both the security policy to be implemented but also the social and health care of drug-dependent populations.

“The situation has deteriorated significantly over the past six months with the arrival of crack,” says Pierre Dessemontet, trustee of Yverdon-les-Bains. We are appealing to the canton to take responsibility and help us manage this crisis.” In the North of Vaud, a crisis unit was launched this summer to limit the inconvenience that drug addicts can cause to the population. “We are experiencing serious problems with the sharing of public space,” continues the councilor. Crack causes certain harmful behaviors that we didn’t know about in the past. Before, consumption remained hidden. Today, it sometimes happens in broad daylight, ten meters from a play area.”
