For a monthly subscription, restaurateurs can find out about the habits of future guests at their establishments. A service which of course raises the issue of confidentiality of personal data.

Gastronomes familiar with starred tables, assiduous readers of guides and rankings whose opinions you follow, you may be tracked. The company Qeat (for “Who’s at the table?”) offers restaurateurs, for a subscription – up to “499€ / HT Monthly + 4,299€/HT (set-up costs)” according to the prices displayed on the site – to help them adapt their service to customers who are not used to doing so at home. “It’s a service we provide to room managers”confirms Stéphane Riss, one of the two partners of Qeat with Yann Casanova.

In short, the restaurant subscribers learn that Mr. and Mrs. X, who booked their establishment for the first time, are die-hard fans of prestigious chains such as Relais et Châteaux, exclusively frequent the elitist two and three-star Michelin restaurants or rarely stray from the tables distinguished by the 50 Best. “When the restaurant takes these indications into account, the bill increases”welcomes…
