The Princess of Wales gave an update on her condition on Monday, September 9, in a moving video. She confirmed that she had finished her preventive chemotherapy.

“As summer draws to a close, I can’t tell you how relieved I am to have finally finished my chemotherapy treatment.” In a poignant video, filmed in Norfolk and shared on Monday, September 9, Kate Middleton gave an update. In it, she confirmed that she had finished her preventative chemotherapy, which she began after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

“The last nine months have been incredibly challenging for our family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and uncharted waters,” the wife of heir to the throne Prince William is heard saying. “The cancer experience is complex, frightening and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you. It humbly confronts you with your own vulnerabilities in ways you may never have considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”

Further in this very personal video, where Kate is seen sometimes in the forest with Prince William and his three children, sometimes around the table with her parents, the Princess of Wales details the impact of her illness. “This period has mainly reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple but important things in life, which so many of us take for granted. To love and to be loved, quite simply.”

After such an ordeal, Kate Middleton now says she is doing everything she can to stay in remission. “Although I have completed chemotherapy, my road to recovery and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she adds. “However, I look forward to returning to work and taking part in a few more public engagements in the coming months, when possible.” Nothing has been confirmed at this time, but Kate Middleton is expected to attend Remembrance Day on November 10, as well as the annual carol service “Together at Christmas.”
