Since the outfit for the first day of school sometimes leads to days of reflection, “Libé” took a dress walk to ask middle school students if they took their style seriously.

While crisscrossing the 13th arrondissement of Paris in search of middle school looks, we didn’t quite expect to (re)discover that between the cute patterns of elementary school and the more assertive looks of high school, there stood the no-nonsense no-look of middle school years. The general impression says it well: when it comes to adolescence and the beginnings of puberty, we probably don’t try to stand out from the crowd. Middle school remains this more or less wonderful time of orthodontics and the standardization of taste. Obviously, everything depends on the neighborhood, income, and time too. But wherever you hang out, it doesn’t really seem possible to go back to school without a pair of Nikes, a pair of wide-leg jeans, and brands like sure values ​​that never let you down, starting with Eastpak for backpacks, Levi’s for denim, The North Face for the right jacket. If 11-15 year olds in secondary school are generally not completely independent when it comes to buying clothes, most of them naturally head towards brands that offer maximum choice for a ridiculously low price, fast fashion, from Zara and H&M to Shein and Temu.
