Friday, Saturday and Sunday are classified as orange by Bison Futé in Île-de-France due to the lanes dedicated to the Paralympic Games, which end this Sunday.
A significant risk of traffic jams outside school holidays is quite rare. However, this will be the case this weekend, starting Friday, with three days classified as orange by Bison Futé, but only in Île-de-France.
This weekend will indeed mark the end of the Paris Paralympic Games, which prompted the traffic forecasting service to issue this alert. This back-to-school week, traffic was largely disrupted, with 450 km of traffic jams accumulated on Tuesday morning and a peak of 550 km on Thursday morning.
“The majority of the difficulties should be concentrated on all the axes of the Île-de-France region, classified orange over the entire period,” notes the Bison Futé forecast bulletin.
During these games, the Olympic lanes were indeed reactivated. In total, 185 km of the roads around Paris are affected (the A1, A4, A12 and A13 motorways, as well as the N13 and the ring road), with a lane dedicated to authorized vehicles. For others, the penalty is quite dissuasive, with a fine of 135 euros planned.
As a result, “Bison futé advises holidaymakers and other users to avoid crossing the Paris region as much as possible during this period.”
Hot spots from Friday to Sunday
The main difficulties will be concentrated on the A10 motorway, particularly around the Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines toll, from Friday to Sunday, particularly in the morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., but also in the middle and at the end of the day.
Traffic is expected to be equally complicated on the A6 motorway and at the Fleury-en-Bière toll booth on Saturday between 10am and noon and on Sunday between 3pm and 9pm.
