The series by Benjamin Charbit and Noé Debré, with the bankable actor in the role of the masked vigilante, defies predictions and turns out to be deliciously kitsch and self-mockery.

We know that we have to approach each new work without preconceptions, always ready to turn the other cheek, but this project, in full bloom with its capes and swords, was a bit of a pain. France Télévisions, which is teaming up with the Paramount + platform to shoot a Zorro in Andalusia, played by the very bankable Jean Dujardin… Was it really reasonable to go and find a crazy actor with all eyebrows to entrust him with the responsibility of a role largely defined by this very thin moustache? Three eyebrows is a lot.

Yet it only takes a few seconds for preconceptions to fall away. It is precisely thanks to this physique of an athletic old beau, perfectly cut out for the two costumes (Zorro but also Don Diego de la Vega), that Dujardin can shine in the deconstruction of the character under the pen of Benjamin Charbit and Noé Debré, authors respectively of two beautiful political comedies, Under control et Parliament.
