The rehabilitation work, which was kicked off on Saturday by the governor of the province of Ouarzazate, Abdullah Jahidare part of a large-scale project aimed at environmental preservation at the level of the communes of Ouarzazate and Tarmigt.
Supervised by the prefecture of Ouarzazate and the municipal council of Ouarzazate, in partnership with the Ouarzazate-Aménagement companythis project financed by the National Fund for Liquid Sanitation and Wastewater Treatment (FALEEU) understands the valuation and household waste treatment and similar in order to minimize their impact on the environment.
The project concerns in particular burying, backfilling, the construction of fences, gates and roads, the establishment of a sorting warehouse, in addition to the creation of several outbuildings aimed at the proper functioning of the site.
It also involves the establishment of a network for the collection and redistribution of rainwaterthe creation ofgreen spaces in addition to the lighting of all the outbuildings of the dump as a major environmental project aimed at preserving the public health and protect the environment.
-In a statement to MAP, the president of the Ouarzazate municipal council, Said Afroukhindicated that this project is part of the implementation of the National household and similar waste management program (PNDM) at the level of the province of Ouarzazate, the aim being to improve the capacity for household waste management and to reduce negative effects on the environment in Ouarzazate and Tarmigt.
The project is designed within the framework of rigorous compliance with current environmental and health standards, including the treatment of materials and liquid gases, which would reduce the impact of pollution on theair and on the groundwater and to ensure a clean territorial space for the population, said Mr. Afroukh.
For this part, Brahim Hammo Aoujadirector of the Ouarzazate-Aménagement company, stressed that this project, which will be completed in 12 months over an area of 60 hectares, would allow modern management of this vital sector and the fight against nuisances on the health of populations and on the water table in the region.
