Ten days after winner Charlie Dalin (Macif Santé Prévoyance), Jérémie Beyou (Charal) took fourth place in the Vendée Globe, the solo round-the-world trip without stopovers or assistance.

The 48-year-old Frenchman crossed the finish line at 1:58 a.m. in Les Sables-d’Olonne, Vendée, after 74 days 12 hours and 56 minutes of racing.

The sailor, who was competing in his 5th Vendée Globe, must however still be patient before being able to return to dry land. It is only around midday that he will be able to go up the channel and set foot on land.

Paul Meilhat (Biotherm) and Nicolas Lunven (Holcim-PRB) are also expected on Friday morning.

Eighth in the score taken Friday at 7 a.m. by the organizers, the Genevan Justine Mettraux, columnist for lematin.ch, is located 320 nautical miles (592 kilometers) from the goal, only 13 miles behind the 7th, the Frenchman Thomas Ruyant (Vulnerable).

According to race management’s projections, the Swiss should complete her tour of the globe between this Friday at 11 p.m. and Saturday at 5 a.m. And thus enjoy the burger and fruit salad she ordered…
