At a gathering in tribute to 7-year-old Kamylia, who was violently hit by a motocross bike, her family announced that the girl died this Sunday, September 1st as a result of her injuries.

A gathering in tribute to Kamilya, a 7-year-old girl who was hit by a motorbike on Thursday, August 29, took place in Vallauris on Sunday, September 1.

Around 250 people gathered spontaneously from 6pm in front of the family home. On site, it was a time of contemplation, the emotion was palpable. During the tribute, the victim’s father, Slim Oussaya, announced his death.

“She didn’t die yesterday, she didn’t die today. She died on the road. I thank all the doctors, they did everything they had to. Because, from the start, they knew there was no hope,” he said.

The girl had been placed in an artificial coma and suffered multiple fractures and head trauma after being knocked down by a motorbike while crossing a pedestrian crossing.

Flowers and candles placed in front of the residence

“I was told that she did not suffer. Even in her death she did not cry. She did not cry for seven years, she did not cry when she died and that is why I refuse that we cry today or that we show sadness. Just out of respect for her,” her father continued.

To help their loved ones financially, a collection box was opened during the ceremony. Many tokens of support were brought in front of the family’s home, balloons, candles, stuffed animals and flowers were placed throughout the day.

Among those present at the ceremony, Wissem, a local resident, came to show his support for the victim’s father, who is his friend. “On top of that, my sister was his nanny. She looked after her for two years, it breaks my heart. We can’t even put ourselves in the parents’ shoes, it must be really hard. The father, I saw him, he is very courageous. We can barely put ourselves in his shoes, we get goosebumps.”

“Killing an angel doesn’t happen”

“She didn’t have time to live her whole life, I find that very sad,” regrets Ewan, whose grandmother lives in the same residence as the victim’s family. “It’s unfortunate, a week ago it was a policeman, today it’s a little girl…”, sighs Rachid, also a resident of the neighborhood.

The strong emotion is mixed with a feeling of injustice, particularly reinforced by the release of the biker. “The person is released, it’s the law, but the little girl is no longer there. The parents are devastated. Her little brother, it’s even worse, he saw her being hit in front of him. Killing an angel, that doesn’t happen”, testifies Sandrine. “Kamilya was a lively little girl, full of energy, beauty, smiles, she doesn’t deserve this.”
