Dakar, 13 Jan (APS) – Senegal is banking on tailored programs to reduce gender inequalities in access to education and promote women’s empowerment, said Mor Loume, special advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Development. ‘Innovation.

Mor Loume led the Senegalese delegation during the two-day international summit for girls’ education in Muslim communities, held this weekend in Pakistan, with the participation of 47 countries.

“The government of Senegal, as part of its education policy, has placed particular emphasis on encouraging girls’ education. This initiative aims to reduce gender inequalities in access to education and promote the empowerment of women through adapted educational programs,” said the head of the delegation in his speech at the opening of the meeting. .

“Education is the foundation on which the future of any society rests. It is not only a fundamental right, but also an essential lever for economic, social and cultural progress,” said Mr. Loume, whose remarks are reported in a press release.

According to Mor Loume, no nation “can thrive without a strong, inclusive and equitable education system that prepares its citizens to meet the challenges of the modern world.”

At the opening of the summit on Saturday, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed that the Muslim world faces significant challenges in ensuring equitable access to education for girls.

The summit was to seal, through a so-called Islamabad Declaration, “the common commitment of the Muslim community to empower girls through education, paving the way for inclusive and sustainable educational reforms, and a better future for generations to come.”
