Some 300 North Korean soldiers have been killed out of thousands deployed by Pyongyang to Russia to support its war against Ukraine, a South Korean lawmaker said Monday, citing South Korean intelligence. Around 2,700 others were injured.

(Keystone-ATS) North Korea encourages its soldiers deployed in Russia to commit suicide to avoid capture, MP Lee Seong-kweun told reporters.

“Notes found on dead soldiers indicate North Korean authorities pressured them to commit suicide,” including “blowing themselves up […] before capture,” he said.
