The radical change in weather to come by the end of the week in Lyon and the Rhône is confirmed a little more. Météo France announces a significant drop in temperatures after an episode of mild weather. The risk of snow in the plains is also expected for Friday January 10.
We take stock of the weather forecast coming in the coming days in the Rhône and Lyon.
Yellow “flood” vigilance activated since Monday
Météo France this Wednesday extended the flood watch for the Rhône department for the days of Wednesday and Thursday, January 9. There Saône river is in flood in Lyon since the start of the week.
This Wednesday, the level of the watercourse almost 3 meters at Pont-la-Feuillée, according to data from Vigicrues. The level will increase further in the coming hours and should exceed three meters. The water has risen sharply since the beginning of January, according to the data.
Towards the arrival of snow in the plains?
If an episode of snow in the plains is confirmed in the north of France, precipitation arriving from the west is possible on Friday.
“After that expected this afternoon in Hauts-de-France, a new risk is emerging for Friday with the arrival of a disturbance from the west,” warns the Météo Chaîne. According to a snow risk map, part of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is affected, including the Rhône department.
Météo France predicts possible snowfall concentrated in the north of the Rhône department.
Sharp drop in temperatures
The most radical change will be in temperatures with a sharp drop in mercury to get closer to normal. L'episode of sweetness ends this Friday, January 10.
On Wednesday, Météo France still announces highs of 15°C during the day, i.e. a temperature 8°C above seasonal norms.
It will still be up to 14°C in Lyon on Thursday then the mercury should suddenly drop to only 5°C maximum on Friday. The weekend will still be cold with 4 to 5°C in the Lyon region. Negative temperatures in the morning will return on Sunday in Lyon.
