An emblem of Sydney and rock history is now nothing but ruins. The childhood home of Malcolm and Angus Young of ACDC is now nothing more than a pile of stones.

After the fire which devastated the Morrison Hotel in Los Angeles at the end of December (seen on the cover of the Doors album), it is the Australian continent which is now mourning the destruction of a historic landmark rock: the house of the Young brothers, which was located at 4 Burleigh Street in the suburb of Burwood in Sydney where the family had moved in 1965.

It is in this place that Malcolm and Angus scratched the first songs of ACDC in 1973. No wonder this residence has become a must for fans of the group.

Although registered in 2013 in the National Trust Register of Historic Houses, this unofficial foundation unfortunately does not offer legal protection to the buildings registered there.

So, completely unaware of the house’s past, the demolition company Burwood Square just did its job to clear way for a real estate project.

This led to the anger of fans who castigated the municipality, the state and the federal government for having done nothing to preserve this cultural heritage with global influence.
