Sabiry unveils a strategy to restore dialogue

In a context marked by rising social tensions in the world of work, the Secretary of State for Employment presented a roadmap to mitigate employee protests. This strategy is based on several priority areas aimed at establishing social justice, improving working conditions and guaranteeing the stability of workers.

Questioned on this subject by the advisors during the oral questions session held this Tuesday in the second chamber, Hicham Sabiry, Secretary of State to the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills , in charge of Employment, underlined the importance of an institutionalized and regular dialogue between the government, unions and employers.

To this end, he announced the creation of a tripartite platform dedicated to collective bargaining and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. Furthermore, a permanent mediation and arbitration mechanism will be put in place to intervene quickly in the event of tensions or protests.

Among the priorities of this strategy are of course the review of salaries, with the commitment to align them with the cost of living. The Secretary of State recalled that the government had already increased the SMIG and SMAG in accordance with the conclusions of the national social dialogue.

Improving working conditions is also among the priorities, notably through the promulgation of laws regulating overtime, workplace safety and flexible contracts. The fight against late payment of salaries will be strengthened through the establishment of a control mechanism and sanctions against non-compliant employers. Finally, the expansion of social coverage will make it possible to include benefits such as pensions, health insurance and unemployment benefits, he said.

Sabiry also announced a review of legislative texts relating to labor. This reform will include adjustments to the provisions on contracts, dismissals and trade union rights, in order to further protect employees against abuse. As an example, he mentioned the strict application of articles 25 and 78 of the Labor Code, which provide for sanctions for non-compliance with certain obligations of employers.

Another essential point of this strategy mentioned by Sabiry, the strengthening of continuing professional training to allow workers to adapt to a constantly evolving labor market. The Secretary of State also insisted on transparency in recruitment and promotion processes, in order to guarantee equal opportunities and combat favoritism.

Particular attention will be paid to workers who are victims of economic crises or restructuring. The Secretary of State recalled that the compensation system for loss of employment, established by Law No. 03.14, made it possible to allocate 40 billion centimes per year over the last three years, thus helping to cushion the impacts of economic transformations.

To restore confidence, the government plans to launch information campaigns on the measures taken in favor of workers and the progress made. Direct communication with employees and unions will also be intensified through digital platforms and social networks, he announced.
