The Pikine-Guédiawaye court yesterday judged the seven members of the group nicknamed the “Blowmen”, involved in the fatal accident which occurred on December 27 on the VDN3, near Guédiawaye.

This tragic accident cost the life of Mamadou Konté, nicknamed “Papa”, a 19-year-old mechanic. According to L’Observateur, the main accused, Ismaïla Camara, a young musician, faces a five-year prison sentence for involuntary manslaughter and endangering the lives of others.

According to the daily, Ismaïla Camara, 21, born in and recently repatriated to Senegal by his parents, admitted his responsibility before the court. He admitted to having rented a Ford Taurus vehicle for 80,000 FCFA and driving it under the influence of benzodiazepines and ecstasy, substances detected in his body, despite his denials. The vehicle, equipped with a spare tire, was traveling at high speed when the accident occurred, dragging the victim for nearly 300 meters.

The Observer reports that six other people were part of the group: three young men, Amady Ba, Issa Mballo, Souleymane Kane, and three young women, Ndèye Fatou Diallo, Mbathio Sène, and Amy Dièye. Only the three women were released due to lack of charges against them. The prosecutor requested six-month prison sentences for the three men for drug possession and use.
