Roxane Stojanov, new Principal Dancer at the National Opera

DANCE – At Christmas, the stars appear at the top of the fir trees, in the eyes, in the illuminations of the streets of but also on the stage of the Paris National Opera…

The Franco-Macedonian Roxane Stojanov thus joined the firmament of recognition last night for an artist in the choreographic field, by being named Star Dancer of the Paris National Opera ballet.

Nothing is ever acquired in the life of an artist and apart from the fact that the slightest accident can stop even the most meteoric ascensions of tomorrow’s stars (not counting the number of shooting stars), this nomination almost did not not take place.

In any case not after a performance of Paquita by Pierre Lacotte of which Roxane Stojanov plays the title role at the Opéra Bastille alternating with her now star colleagues Valentine Colasante, Léonore Baulac, Sae Eun Park, Bleuenn Battistoni, Hannah O’Neill but also the principal dancers Héloïse Bourdon and Inès McIntosh .

The first performances of Paquita were in fact canceled due to a strike. But the miracle of Christmas did take place, in the form of a truce for the confectioners: a truce no longer rhyming with a strike but with a dream, for Roxane Stojanov and her stellar career in fact (entry in 2007 to the Dance School of the Paris National Opera, engaged in 2013 in the Corps de Ballet, Coryphée in 2016, Cercle Carpeaux Dance Prize in 2017, Subject in 2018, AROP Dance Prize in 2020, First Dancer in 2022 and therefore Star Dancer in 2024).
