North Korea announces it will adopt its “toughest” strategy against the United States: “The most reactionary country”

North Korea announced a “hardest-line” strategy against the United States, criticizing its alliance with South Korea and Japan, and strengthening its rapprochement with Russia.

North Korea will adopt its strategy “the hardest” against the United States which she accuses of being the country “the most reactionary” of the world, the official KCNA news agency reported on Sunday, after the conclusion of an important meeting of the ruling party.

This high mass of the Workers’ Party, chaired by leader Kim Jong Un, took place from Monday to Friday, according to KCNA, ahead of the New Year traditionally marked by a speech by the North Korean leader. “The United States is the most reactionary country, which considers anti-communism to be its invariable state policy”indicates the official media in a report of the discussions in English.

The party also criticized the increasingly close relations between neighboring South Korea, Japan and the United States, saying these partners had become “a nuclear military bloc for the purposes of aggression”. He also called South Korea a“anti-communist outpost of the United States” in the region, while the North Korean regime was built on this ideology.

Faced with this situation, Kim Jong Un thus “clarified” the strategy to adopt to implement “the toughest anti-US countermeasure, to be launched aggressively”reported KCNA, without giving details.

Strategy announcement and alliances

Such Workers’ Party congresses, as well as Mr. Kim’s speeches to North Korean officials, typically serve as a platform for Pyongyang to make major policy announcements. North Korea resolutely opposes the United States and regularly criticizes the leaders of South Korea, accusing them of being “puppets” Americans.

Conversely, it is moving closer to Russia, with which it signed a mutual defense pact in June that came into force at the beginning of the month. Pyongyang is accused of supplying troops and military equipment to Moscow, with Westerners fearing that Russia will offer it assistance, particularly economic and technological, in exchange.
