The terrible vehicular attack that hit Germany on December 20 has its share of tragic stories. In a Facebook post, a bereaved mother expressed her sadness over the death of her son, André, 9 years old.
André Gleißner was only 9 years old. He tragically died in the vehicular attack which hit the Magdeburg Christmas market in Germany this Friday, December 20, the latest toll being 5 dead and 200 injured. He is the only child among the victims.
“André had not harmed anyone. You had only been there for 9 years on Earth. Why you?” his mother poured out in a poignant message published on Facebook. “Now you are with grandma and grandpa in heaven. They missed you a lot, as we miss you here now. You will always live in our hearts. I promise you,” continued Désirée Gleißner.

The day after the attack, 2,000 people gathered to support the families of victims and injured despite pouring rain. The resigning Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, will travel to Magdeburg on December 22 to express France's solidarity.
