At the University of Montreal, psychological health is a subject often discussed, but what about cognitive health? However, cognitive functioning – memory, attention, information management – is at the heart of students’ daily challenges.
This lack of information on UdeM campuses motivated the Student Success Support Center (CESAR) to create a podcast specifically on student neuropsychology. The project, which is part of the success support initiatives, aims to explore various elements in an accessible and engaging manner. The podcast, a format particularly popular with the student community, has established itself as an ideal way to offer informative, stimulating content adapted to its needs.
Addressing crucial topics such as cognitive exhaustion, focus and neurodiversity, the new podcast Neuropods invites an enriching exploration of student wellness, seen through the lens of neuropsychology.
“Beyond the extremes, we can have cognitive strengths and weaknesses. A bit like physical characteristics, we have cognitive characteristics,” says Magalie Loiselle, neuropsychologist at the Student Success Support Center.
In three captivating episodes, clinicians Anne-Laure Macé and Magalie Loiselle highlight concrete and effective strategies aimed at preventing academic burnout at university. In addition to testimonials from members of the UdeM student community, they present a variety of resources offered by the University to support students in their quest for balance.
“Knowing yourself well allows you to better adapt to your environment and make the right choices of courses and programs,” says Anne-Laure Macé, neuropsychologist at CESAR.
Podcast episodes Neuropods were designed in collaboration with Florence Aquilina, a graduate of a postgraduate diploma specializing in journalism, who took care of the editing, writing the descriptions and designing the trailer.
Everything was recorded directly on the mountain campus, in studios equipped for this purpose and made available to the team by certain UdeM libraries. These places are also accessible by reservation to members of the student community. The three episodes of the podcast Neuropods are available on all popular listening platforms and on the Student Life Services website.
