A tragedy was confirmed on Tuesday with the discovery of the body of Dries De Graeve, a 29-year-old from Ghent who had been missing since the end of November during a stay in Taghazout, Morocco. After an intense search by the authorities, his family sadly announced the end of hopes of finding the young man alive.

The body of Dries De Graeve, a 29-year-old from Ghent who disappeared at the end of November in Morocco, has been found, his family said on social networks on Tuesday. The man had disappeared during a stay in Taghazout, north of Agadir.

“It is with great sadness that we announce that Dries’ body was found in the mountains near Agadir. We are immensely grateful for the work of the authorities, but also for the support and participation in the search operations friends and family during this painful time,” the statement read. The family further requests respect for the victim’s privacy and will not make any additional statements.

Dries’ friends had last seen him on the night of November 18-19. He then seemed confused and agitated. Since then he had been missing. He was reportedly last seen in Taghazout on the night of November 20.
