By answering questions from parliamentarians on general policy, Aziz Akhannouch highlighted the progress made under the reign of King Mohammed VI, while unveiling audacious objectives for 2030. “The Morocco of the future, as imagined by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is based on optimal exploitation of our resources to build inclusive and sustainable development,” he declared at the opening of his speech.

The head of government stressed that this royal vision has allowed Morocco to become a model in terms of economic and social transformation, even in an international context marked by uncertainty.

Remarkable achievements during the reign of Mohammed VI

Aziz Akhannouch presented eloquent figures to illustrate the impressive evolution of Moroccan infrastructure since 1999. The motorway network, for example, has been multiplied by 22reaching 1,800 kilometers today. Morocco is now ranked 16th in the world in terms of road quality and density.with 58,000 kilometers of roads, including 2,164 kilometers of expressways.

Port infrastructure has also undergone a major transformation, with an increase in the number of ports to 43including strategic installations such as the Tanger Med port, today leading port in Africa and the Mediterranean.

In the airport sector, the country went from 15 to 25 airports, including 19 international, while the number of dams increased, reaching a storage capacity greater than 20 billion cubic meters.

On the social level, health infrastructure has been strengthened, with the construction of 65 new hospitals since 1999. Education has also benefited from this dynamic, with the creation of 4,678 schools, 62% of which are in rural areas.

Ambitious goals for 2030

The head of government presented flagship projects which are part of a long-term strategy aimed at making Morocco a regional leader. Among the major objectives is the extension of the high-speed line (LGV) from Kenitra to Marrakech, then Agadira project requiring an investment of 53 billion dirhams for the section to Marrakech.

In the air sector, the government plans to double the capacity of Moroccan airports to accommodate 80 million passengers by 2030, compared to 38 million currently. This plan includes the extension of the airports of Rabat-Salé, Marrakech and Agadir, as well as the modernization of the Mohammed V airport in Casablanca, in preparation for the 2030 World Cup.

On the renewable energy front, Morocco aims to increase their share in the energy mix to 52% by 2030. “We are continuing to develop solar and wind projects, with a current capacity of 5,300 MW, or 45% of our energy mix,” said Aziz Akhannouch.

A reduction in social and territorial disparities

The head of government also insisted on the importance of reducing territorial inequalities through specific measures such as the Program to reduce regional disparities. This allowed the construction or rehabilitation of 20,864 kilometers of roadsthe connection of 230,000 homes with drinking water and 60,000 homes with electricity.

In terms of health, Aziz Akhannouch recalled that 1,400 local centers are being modernized, with a completion rate of 60%. New university hospitals in Agadir, Béni Mellal and Laâyoune are also under construction to strengthen access to care.

The 2030 World Cup as a catalyst

The preparation of the 2030 World Cup constitutes a strategic turning point for Morocco. Aziz Akhannouch affirmed that with the construction of the large Hassan II stadium in Benslimane, with a capacity of 115,000 seats, and the renovation of the large stadiums in Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangier, this event is “a historic opportunity to accelerate the investments in sports, tourism and transport infrastructure.

The head of government reiterated the government’s commitment to realizing the royal vision for a prosperous and modern Morocco. “Under the enlightened leadership of King Mohammed VI, we will continue to chart the path towards a Morocco of the future, combining economic progress, social justice and international influence,” he concluded.
