Switzerland will face Norway, Iceland and Finland in the preliminary round of Euro Ladies 2025, the draw for which was made in Lausanne. The Swiss could have fared worse.
The opening match, on July 2 in Basel, will see Switzerland (23rd in the FIFA rankings) battling Norway (16th). Pia Sundhage’s protégés will then face Iceland (14th) on July 6 in Bern before completing the first round in Geneva against Finland (26th).
The organizing country thus avoided crossing paths with potentially more difficult opponents, such as Italy or England (pot 2), the Netherlands or Sweden (pot 3) or even Portugal (pot 4).
The holders of the trophy, the English, appear in group D, undoubtedly the strongest. They will face France, the Netherlands and Wales.
