Hello and welcome to Senego’s morning show this Monday, December 16, 2024. It is with renewed pleasure that we present to you the most debated articles on our site during the night.
Let’s start first with an international meeting held in Rome. The jury of the Sheikh Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity met to deliberate on this prestigious distinction, promoting peace and global solidarity. Former Senegalese President Macky Sall, accompanied by members of the jury, had the honor of being received in audience by Pope Francis on December 14. According to Macky Sall, this interview made it possible to salute “the renewed commitment of the Holy Father for a world of peace, justice, solidarity and sharing”. Second in our morning, we look at the 13th edition of “Show of the Year”, an event which marked the year with its ability to bring together an impressive array of personalities from the Senegalese administration. Chaired by Fadilou Keita and Ngagne Demba Toure, among others, this event was a true celebration of universal values. The spectators, dressed in hardcore outfits, expressed their unconditional support for Nit Dof, strengthening the bonds between artists and national leaders. More information can be found here: Show of the Year brings together leaders and stars.
Finally, let’s address a historic decision adopted at the ECOWAS summit in Abuja: the creation of a special court to judge crimes committed under the regime of former Gambian dictator Yahya Jammeh. This court aims to provide justice to victims of abuse between 1994 and 2017. The Gambian government has described this decision as a “historic step”, potentially allowing victims of past atrocities to obtain reparation and justice.
