An event that highlights the cultural and artisanal wealth of the region
In a festive atmosphere marked by exceptional attendance, the Regional Crafts Fair opened on Wednesday December 11, 2024 in Demnate. Organized under the theme “Crafts: an authentic heritage and a driver of local development”, this event highlights the cultural and artisanal wealth of the region. It is part of an approach aimed at promoting craftsmanship as an essential pillar of local development and a symbol of national identity.
The official inauguration was chaired by the caid of the first administrative district of Demnate, in the presence of the president of the Chamber of Crafts of Béni Mellal-Khénifra, several vice-presidents, members of the municipal council of Demnate, as well as members of the House.
The Salon constitutes a dynamic space bringing together talented artisans from Demnate, neighboring regions, as well as other Moroccan cities, particularly those in the south and the Saharan zones. Visitors can discover a diverse range of creations, from handcrafted rugs, woodcuts and pottery, to traditional clothing and silver jewelry, which reflect the authenticity and uniqueness of the local heritage. The Salon also offers a rich selection of local products and various handicrafts.
This event offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore artisanal manufacturing techniques and the different stages of production up close. It highlights the know-how and creativity of artisans, while emphasizing their crucial role in preserving regional cultural identity.
In parallel with the exhibition of artisanal products, the Fair offers a varied program including training workshops in craft professions, musical and folkloric shows highlighting the traditions of Demnate, as well as thematic meetings focused on importance of crafts in the local economy and the empowerment of women and youth in rural areas.
In his inaugural speech, Mohamed El Aqaoui, president of the Chamber of Crafts of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, underlined the importance of the Fair for the promotion of artisanal products and the opening of new commercial opportunities for artisans. He called on local actors and institutions to support this category, essential to the preservation of cultural and economic heritage. He also reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to providing continued support through training programs and marketing initiatives aimed at driving innovation and growth.
For his part, Abdelilah Ztour, president of the communications committee in the House, insisted on the need to promote such events in the media to raise awareness among the local and national public of the importance of craftsmanship. He stressed that this initiative is part of the High Royal Guidelines aimed at promoting authentic Moroccan heritage, thanking all those who contributed to the success of this second edition.
From its first day, the Fair attracted a large audience, made up of local visitors and tourists who came from various backgrounds to enjoy the unique atmosphere and acquire authentic products. The event is also expected to strengthen the tourist appeal of Demnate, by consolidating its image as a cultural and heritage destination par excellence.
