A planned demonstration against the coming of the National Rally takes place in front of the town hall of Étrépagny, in Eure, this Sunday, December 15. The party has planned a meeting in the city, an event attended by executives of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, president of the party and Marine Le Pen, president of the RN group in the National Assembly.

In opposition to the holding of this meeting, around fifty demonstrators were present at 11 a.m. Other demonstrators are expected early in the afternoon. Around fifteen political and trade union organizations, all left-wing, are present in front of the town hall of Étrépagny. Among them, the CGT, Attac, the NPA, LFI, the PCF and the Human Rights League. This gathering is followed by a stroll through the city.

“We considered it extremely important to show that there are not only these ideas, explains David Boyle, president of the local section of the Human Rights League. “We have to try to convince people that this is a false path. The solution is not exclusion or rejection of others, but it is tolerance and social justice.“Frédéric Barreau, CGT Étrépagny member, outbids us by recalling that “the party still voted against the increase in the minimum wage”.

The route planned for the demonstrators to walk through the city was designed to avoid a confrontation between opponents and National Rally activists.
