Morgane found in Coutances: “Not aware…”, what now awaits the suspicious young man

The Morgane affair, this 13-year-old girl who disappeared for more than two weeks, experienced a new twist this Thursday, December 12, 2024. The suspect, Adrien, 21, with whom Morgane was found in Coutances, far from her family home in , finally admitted to having had sexual intercourse with the young girl. He was indicted and imprisoned.

A “consensual” sexual relationship according to the suspect

While Morgane and Adrien both initially denied having had intimate relations, the young man retracted his statements. As confirmed by his lawyer, Me Pierre-Alexis Blevin, at the microphone of BFM, Adrien “has recognized a consensual sexual relationship“.

The lawyer explains this about-face by the fact that his client “was not aware, at the time of the events, of the seriousness of the latter“, thinking that the relationship was consensual. Me Blevin describes a man “upset“, “fatigue” et
proven“by his custody and his appearance before the courts. Adrien would be today”deeply unhappy“and would have”become aware of his actions“.

Subtraction of minor and aggravated rape: the suspect incarcerated and soon judged on appeal

Following his confession, Adrien was indicted by an investigating judge on Thursday for “subtraction of a minor child” et “rape of a minor under 15“. Charges with serious consequences for the young man, who faces up to 20 years of criminal imprisonment.

At the end of his indictment, Adrien was placed in pre-trial detention by the judge of freedoms and detention. However, he appealed this decision. His case should therefore soon return to the investigating chamber of the Court of Appeal, which will rule on whether or not he remains in prison while awaiting his trial.

A runaway triggered by a family argument

According to prosecutor Nicolas Heitz, it was an argument with her parents that occurred the weekend before her disappearance that pushed Morgane to run away. The young girl, who regularly interacted with adult men on Snapchat, would have met Adrien in a group called “Golden Group”.

Morgane claimed to be 14 years old and made disturbing remarks, evoking suicidal thoughts and intentions to scar herself. It was ultimately the report of a mother from Charente-Maritime that made it possible to find her trace. This woman had been called to her home by Adrien, accompanied by Morgane, who seemed to want to entrust the teenager to him. After refusing and consulting the wanted notices, she notified the police.
