One died in Wormhout, two behind the Grande-Synthe refinery and two others in Loon Plage. This Saturday, December 14, 2024, under conditions that remain to be defined, 5 people were killed in several separate homicides.
An individual, aged 22 and unknown to the justice system, went to the Ghyvelde gendarmerie in the North late in the afternoon. According to our information, he accused himself of being the author of several homicides on the Dunkirk coast. He is currently being questioned by investigators and a judicial investigation has been opened by the Dunkirk public prosecutor's office.
It was a little after 3 p.m. when the suspect entered the courtyard of a house in Wormhout (North). Hearing the sound of a vehicle, the 29-year-old man went out and was shot several times in cold blood in front of his partner.
When the police were dispatched to the scene, they noticed the presence of a man on the ground in the courtyard of a home. The victim, a business manager, had several gunshot wounds, including one to the head.
Gunshots were then heard around 4:15 p.m., 25 kilometers from Wormouth, in a migrant camp located at Loon Plage, near Dunkirk (North).
“My team was on the groundsays Salomé Bahri, head of the Utopia 56 association in Dunkirk. When we heard gunshots, I asked them to leave. The associations were evacuated. We saw a huge police and fire brigade“.
The Northern firefighters were called into action around 4:20 p.m., and a large force was deployed to provide assistance to several people injured by gunfire. The site was secured by law enforcement. Four people were killed in the area, including two migrants of Kurdish origin and two security agents.
