The day after his appointment as Prime Minister, the boss of Modem received political figures and civil society figures this Saturday, in the hope of quickly forming his future government.

The meeting with the President of the Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet was set for 11:30 a.m. and that with his Senate counterpart Gérard Larcher was held at 6 p.m., the day after the appointment of the new Prime Minister, who succeeds to the post of head of government to LR Michel Barnier, victim of a motion of censure three months after his arrival.
During the traditional handover on Friday, the centrist assured that he was ignoring nothing “of the Himalayas that stand before usdifficulties of all kinds”promising to “hide nothing, neglect nothing and leave nothing aside”. Following the downgrading by the Moody's agency of France's sovereign rating, estimating that the “political fragmentation” of the country is not conducive to the rapid recovery of public finances, François Bayrou must also receive the governor of the Bank of France, François Villeroy de Galhau.
A Prime Minister under the “surveillance” of the RN
The head of government, aged 73, must deal with an Assembly which could bring him down if the voices of the left unite with those of the National Rally as during the motion which ended Michel Barnier's lease. The president of the RN, Jordan Bardella, also warned him about “under supervision” of Parliament and “of the first group of deputies to the National Assembly”that of his party. He demanded that the RN, excluded from a meeting with the head of state on Tuesday, be “quickly” received by the Prime Minister, and recalled his “red lines”whether on the “purchasing power”security or even proportional. According to his entourage, François Bayrou should call the group leaders during the weekend, before formal consultations at the start of the week, his idea being “to go quickly” to form his government.
As expected, the New Popular Front will not participate in this government. But he is divided on the degree of criticism towards François Bayrou. LFI will thus file a motion of censure as soon as possible, its coordinator Manuel Bompard describing this choice as “new arm of honor for democracy”. For her part, the national secretary of the Ecologists, Marine Tondelier, affirmed on Saturday on France Inter that she did not want “censor a priori” the government of François Bayrou, but that it was already beginning “to have preconceptions of censorship”.
On the right, the Republicans have conditioned their participation in government on “project” that the new Prime Minister will present to them. “We will not deny ourselves”warned LR MEP François-Xavier Bellamy on France Inter, citing immigration, security, agriculture, taxation and even the country's debt as priorities for his party.
