The boss of independents and SMEs criticizes Arizona: “We need a little respect for people who undertake and hire”

“Abysmal deficit”

After six months of tough negotiations between the Arizona parties (N-VA, CD&V, Vooruit, MR and Engagés) led by trainer Bart De Wever, reappointed on December 10 by the King, there is no Okay, how do I explain it? “The future government is faced with an unprecedented budgetary consolidation obligation, probably the most important in the last 50 years“, analyzes Maxime Prévot. He continues: “Successive governments, I mean all parties, have passed the hot potato on to the next team. Today, this unhealthy little game is no longer possible, we are up against the wall with an abysmal deficit which worries outside observers.”

For Maxime Prévot, the time taken for these negotiations is justified in the consequences of the decisions that will be taken: “The measures we are going to have to take will make people cringe […] OWe must take measures that will structurally impact millions of people for decades. Sometimes on pensions, sometimes on public services, sometimes on the labor market, sometimes on taxation. We are the generation that must make decisions that put Belgium back on track, at the risk of being politically damaged and suffering the consequences during the next election. We have a duty to make difficult choices“, he explains to our colleagues.

New moment of tensions within Arizona: here are the main blocking points

“A man who does the job properly”

The parties of the future coalition will follow the work agenda issued by the trainer at the frenetic pace of two themes per day with negotiations 7 days a week. Enough to have a government before January 1st? It remains to be seen whether tensions between the negotiators do not return and whether Bart De Wever does not risk abandoning his mission. “This scenario should be avoided. I discovered a man who does the job correctly, if he were to throw in the towel, it would be an additional layer of chaos that would solve nothing. I don’t see how early elections would simplify the equation“, affirmed the president of the Engagés.
