Madame Bineta Diop receives the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the Faculty of Human Sciences of the “University of the Free State” in South Africa. This distinction, the third of its kind for her, is attributed to the women’s rights activist.

Founder of the NGO Femmes Africa Solidarité, Bineta Diop is recognized for her exceptional commitment to peacebuilding across the African continent. Its action spans decades, involving numerous programs to strengthen the role of women in peace processes.

In her role as Special Envoy for Women, Peace and Security of the African Union, she led key initiatives, such as the peace negotiations in Burundi in 2000 and in the DRC in 2002. She facilitated participation female in these decisive talks.

The University of the Free State, established in 1902 and having worked for post-apartheid inclusion, highlights its historic commitment to diversity. Bineta Diop embodies these values ​​by promoting gender equality in Africa.
