Mitigating China’s “harmful practices”

Tariffs for solar wafers (wafers of semiconductor material) and polysilicon are expected to double in January to 50%, while those for certain tungsten products will increase from 0 to 25%, the office of the US Trade Representative announced (USTR).

These tariff increases “will further mitigate China’s harmful policies and practices,” US Trade Representative Katherine Tai said in a statement. These actions, she added, complement the investments made in the United States under the administration of President Joe Biden to stimulate the American clean energy economy.
