President Faye calls for finalization of evaluation of youth employment initiatives

The Head of State requested, Wednesday, in the Council of Ministers, the finalization as soon as possible of “a special teacher recruitment program over three years (2025, 2026, 2027), according to specialties and subjects targeted priorities”.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye invited the Prime Minister to finalize the evaluation of all initiatives, all programs, projects and public measures to promote the employability and employment of young people (ANPEJ, DER/FJ, 3 FPT,

This invitation is part of the “urgent overhaul of the youth employment promotion policy”, which remains, according to the Head of State, “a national priority, given the extreme youth of the population of Senegal and the very high unemployment rate among young people.

With a population made up of 75% young people under the age of 25, according to data from the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD), Senegal is struggling to benefit from this demographic dividend, meaning that many Among them choose the path of irregular emigration at the risk of their lives.

To offer these young people employment prospects in their country, President Faye called on public services, the private sector and socio-professional organizations to implement a professional integration program for young people.

The Head of State ”also asked the Prime Minister to engage with the Ministers and State structures concerned, the national private sector and the trade union centers, the consensual development and pragmatic implementation of a Innovative national strategy for professional integration and youth employment,” we read in the press release from the Council of Ministers.
