We met many passengers on the platforms of Cornavin and Annemasse station: they tell how the “Lex” facilitated their mobility.
Jeannie-Moïse, 45, climbed on the Léman Express in Annemasse. The implementation of this new rail network five years ago made him leave his car to go to his employer in Meyrin. “Between gas and parking, taking Lake Geneva simply costs less.”
David, sitting in the same compartment, is employed in a food chain. To get near La Praille, this cook takes the same train every day from Machilly, in France, towards Lancy-Pont-Rouge station. “Although there are sometimes hiccups, like delays or cancellations, I stopped taking my motorcycle. It’s faster, more practical, and less dangerous,” he assures. Nicknamed “Le Léman” or “le Lex”, the train network inaugurated on December 12, 2019 connects 45 stations within a radius of 60 kilometers around Geneva and covers 230 kilometers of tracks. Its achievement: having linked the Swiss and French networks for a real regional offer.
