The National again looked at the 2025 budget on Wednesday. Instead of its initial cut of 250 million in international cooperation, it has now validated a reduction of 170 million. The Council of States wants to cut 30 million.
The left and the Green Liberals would have liked to rally around the senators. The Council of States’ concept of compensating for increased military spending allows for the best for everyone, it is a balanced compromise, argued Corina Gredig (PVL/ZH), in vain.
The deputies, on the other hand, rallied behind the senators, who proposed further cuts in the compensation paid to the cantons for social assistance for applicants and refugees (-100 million).
Unlike the Council of States, the National insisted on an increase of 12.5 million francs in the envelope for the EPF. This involves implementing a decision of Parliament. He also maintained the 12.5 million for the fund for the new regional policy.
