On February 10, 2023, getting behind the wheel after three days of using drugs without sleeping, the actor collided with a car traveling in the opposite lane.

Three people were seriously injured by the impact: a 38-year-old man, his six-year-old son and his 27-year-old sister-in-law who, being pregnant, had lost the child she was expecting after the impact.

This tragedy is one road injury accident among the 52,000 recorded in mainland that year. But the notoriety of the popular artist with a sympathetic image will trigger a media storm, revealing the dark side of a man mired in drug addiction.

In accordance with the prosecution’s requisitions, the judges sentenced the comedian and actor to five years in prison, three of which were suspended on probation. For the two years, the court issued a committal warrant with deferred effect.

In prison, Pierre Palmade will be able to “formulate a request for sentence modification which will be submitted to the decision of a sentence enforcement judge” at the end of an adversarial hearing, recalled the prosecutor’s office the day after the conviction of the comedian.
