Twelve scientific and technological collaboration projects between Moroccan and Spanish researchers were presented during the 3rd edition of the “Africa Canarias Challenge” program, which was held recently in the Canary Islands.

Around twenty researchers and teachers from the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) participated in the presentation of these projects carried out in collaboration with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and the University of La Laguna ( ULL).

This initiative is part of the “Africa Canarias Challenge” program, initiated by the General Directorate of Relations with Africa, under the Canarian Government, and implemented by the Canarian Startup Association “Emerge”.

The projects presented on this occasion touch on various fields including the development of pharmaceutical formulas from Atlantic microalgae, the valorization of desalination brines for industrial applications, the exploitation of biowaste to produce activated carbon, and the use of networks neuronal for the diagnosis of childhood diseases, indicates the government of the Canary Islands in a press release.

During their stay in the Canary Islands, UM6P researchers visited renowned scientific establishments such as the Canary Islands Institute of Astrophysics (IAC), the Canary Islands Technological Institute (ITC) and the Canary Islands Ocean Platform. Canaries (PLOCAN), adds the same source.

The Director General of Relations with Africa, Luis Padilla Macabeo, highlighted during the 3rd Atlantic Africa Startup Forum the importance of scientific collaboration with Morocco to promote an area of ​​shared prosperity.
