The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, carried out a major reorganization of the state apparatus on December 6, 2024 by terminating the functions of the Prime Minister and members of the government. This decision was made official by a presidential decree, the main points of which were read on the 8 p.m. television news on Radio-Télévision du Burkina (RTB).

According to the decree, the entire government is dissolved with immediate effect. However, the former members of the government were responsible for handling current affairs until a new government team was put in place. This transitional measure aims to avoid any institutional vacuum while awaiting the formation of the next executive.

This decree is part of the powers conferred by the Constitution and the Transition Charter, adopted on October 14, 2022 and modified on May 25, 2024. No official explanation has yet been given on the motivations for this dissolution, but this reshuffle reflects a desire for reorganization and perhaps redefinition of government priorities in a delicate transition context.

The document, signed by President Ibrahim Traoré, also specifies that this decree will be published in the Official Journal of Faso. This political turning point is being closely followed by the population and international observers, while the country is going through a crucial period in its political transition.
