Tourism: Towards a concrete action plan for an ambitious decade

The Minister of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, called for the development of a concrete action plan to prepare the tourism sector for major world events planned between 2025 and 2030, including the 2030 World Cup. This plan, focused on improving infrastructure and quality of service, aims to position Morocco as an essential international destination.

During a meeting with the National Tourism Confederation (CNT), Ammor encouraged hoteliers to accelerate the modernization of their establishments through initiatives such as “Cap Hospitality”. She also underlined the importance of diversifying the tourist offer to compensate for seasonality and develop new destinations, thus promoting a balanced distribution of tourist flows throughout the national territory.

The minister praised the sector’s exceptional performance in 2024: 14.6 million visitors, 97 billion dirhams in foreign exchange earnings, and 24 million overnight stays. These results, the result of close collaboration between the government and professionals, are accompanied by the creation of 25,000 additional direct jobs compared to 2023.

The president of the CNT, Hamid Bentahar, reaffirmed the commitment of private actors to collaborate with the government to strengthen the attractiveness of the sector. He insisted on the urgency of prioritizing the training of talents and the modernization of hotel infrastructure throughout the Kingdom. Dedicated meetings will address issues specific to each region and profession.
