SAccording to a press release from the Prime Minister, these meetings were also an opportunity to welcome the choice of Morocco to host the work of the fifth edition of the Africa Investment Forum, placed under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, and which is being held from December 4 to 6 in Rabat with the participation of major players with a view to facilitating the financing and implementation of development projects in the African continent.
The head of government welcomed on this occasion the dynamism demonstrated by the EBRD in supporting infrastructure projects and supporting the acceleration of the energy transition in our country, in line with the vision of the King Mohammed VI, emphasizing the importance of developing a new strategy associating Morocco with the EBRD for the period 2024–2029, with a view to supporting green economy projects in the Kingdom, supporting the competitiveness of the private sector, strengthen social cohesion and reduce spatial disparities.
Odile Renaud-Basso, for her part, recalled that the EBRD has significant investments in Morocco, the value of which exceeded 400 million euros this year, and which mainly relate to the energy transition, carbon neutral sectors, integration of women and the digitalization of the economy, emphasizing that the priorities of the EBRD’s action are in harmony with the development priorities in the Kingdom.
The two officials also reviewed the cooperative relations between Morocco and the EBRD, the Kingdom having become in 2012 a deployment space for the bank’s operations and having since benefited from investments worth 4 .74 billion euros, of which 77% intended for financing the private sector, concludes the press release.
