A 61-year-old woman was discovered unresponsive on Tuesday morning in Renens (VD) by the police. Emergency services were unable to resuscitate her. The authorities suspect an act of violence. The alleged perpetrator, her husband, was arrested at the scene and admitted his involvement.
Around 7:15 a.m., the Central Vaudoise Police (CVP) was alerted by a man that his wife was found unconscious at their home in Renens. Law enforcement and paramedics intervened quickly, but resuscitation attempts did not save the victim, police said Wednesday.
The husband, a 64-year-old Swiss man, present at the scene, was arrested by the police. During his hearing, he admitted his involvement in the death of his wife.
The duty prosecutor went to the scene. He entrusted the investigations to Vaud security police inspectors and will file a request for provisional detention with the Restraint Measures Court.
A criminal investigation has been opened to shed light on the circumstances and causes of death. This will have to determine the course of events, as well as the possible motivations surrounding it. The authorities will have to establish in particular whether the conditions for femicide are met.
