A 22-year-old Quebec hiker has been missing for nearly a week after venturing into the Adirondacks, a mountainous reef located in New York state.
American authorities were notified of the disappearance of Léo Dufour around 11 p.m. on November 30. New York State Police said in a statement posted on Facebook that they are investigating in the area of Upper Works Road in the town of Newcomb. The agents do not know where the young man from Vaudreuil was supposed to go.
Léo Dufour is 1.70 m tall and weighs 68 kg. He was wearing La Sportiva hiking boots, a black Arc’teryx coat, black pants, a black North Face backpack, sunglasses and a beige hat.
The latter, who also has brown hair, had in his possession several pieces of equipment, such as a headlamp, a change of clothes, a portable oven, noodles, a cell phone and a charger.
New York State Police are asking the public to call 518-873-2778 to provide information that can help the investigation.
