UNRWA said the Israeli military allows limited quantities of flour and food through the crossings, which cover only 6% of needs. The agency stressed that this situation has led to a serious crisis in Gaza, particularly regarding access to bread, which has forced most bakeries in the south of the enclave to close their doors.

The agency added that more than two million displaced people in Gaza suffer from hunger, thirst, disease and fear. Families are unable to afford meals as conditions in IDP camps and shelters remain dire due to hunger, cold and the inability of international organizations to provide adequate humanitarian assistance in a context of serious food shortages. She called for the full reopening of crossing points to allow the delivery of essential supplies to avoid widespread famine, with malnutrition and disease already present.

Northern Gaza is experiencing particularly difficult conditions, UNRWA said, with critical shortages of drinking water, medicine and food. The continued blockade of humanitarian aid, coupled with airstrikes, artillery shelling, land leveling and demolitions, has worsened the humanitarian crisis.

The Israeli occupation army has continued its aggressive war against Gaza for 415 consecutive days. At least 44,000 Palestinians were killed and 105,000 injured, mainly women and children. An estimated 11,000 people are missing, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes and other civilian infrastructure destroyed by the occupying forces.
